Learning and peer connection for physicians

Stellar Education brings  physicians together to promote ongoing learning. We create a space to exchange ideas, experiences and insights, promoting a culture of collaboration and building a supportive network. By combining education with a vibrant collegial community, we hope to improve the overall wellbeing of our physicians.

Our initial goal is to revitalize Christchurch Hospital’s weekly Wednesday Grand Round Meetings for internal medicine physicians. Light refreshments will be provided each week to encourage colleagues to be present to engage, rather than away at lunch or remote from their desks. We envisage a future of further educational activities, such as guest lecturers, workshops and conferences.

  • 1. Annual Voluntary Subscription

    • The annual cost is 2.5% of CME ($400 for Te Whatu Ora Employees, or $200 for University Employees)

    • Subscribing to Stellar Education is voluntary and not obligatory for attending Grand Rounds. Attendees who do not subscribe are still welcome to attend Grand Rounds.

    2. Subscription Funding Source

    • The subscription cost is to be covered from the subscribers’ Continuing Medical Education (CME) allowance.

    • This has been pre-approved by Te Whatu Ora Waitaha CMO Richard French as an appropriate educational activity for CME.

    3. What does my subscription cover?

    • Your subscription covers refreshments at the weekly Wednesday Grand Round Education Meetings, administration and accounting costs, and the potential provision of paid speakers and other educational activities.

    4. Open Access Principle

    • The subscription model is designed to ensure open access to internal medicine education

    • Subscribers acknowledge that some attendees may not have paid, however their contribution through subscription results in the greater good of open access to education for everyone.

    5. Subscription renewal and cancellation

    • Subscriptions are valid for one year and can be renewed annually.

    • Subscriptions may be cancelled at any time, however refunds will not be provided for the remainder of the subscription period.

    6. For transparency, we will publish the accounts annually, detailing the total income from fees and details of the expenses. We hope to also get external sponsorship, but we will not publish financial details of any sponsorship to protect our sponsor’s commercial confidentialty.
